This pride-swallowing was a long time coming and even spanned two WrestleMania main events before the beef was truly smoothed over.

The very real spat between John Cena and The Rock will go down in WWE history as one of the most marketable fallouts ever.

Dating back to a 2008 interview where Cena called out Rocky for becoming a wrestler, only to leave all that made him who he was to pursue a movie career in Hollywood. This would then lead to the Brahma Bull firing back upon his return to the squared circle in 2011.

Setting up their genuine bad blood to be utilised in back-to-back 'Mania main events, the two would spar verbally on a weekly basis and call out each other's attitudes towards fashion, wrestling and even each other's lives.

In 2018, after the dust had settled and the two had gone their separate ways, Cena openly admitted that he was wrong and said sorry for calling out The Great One. Cena claimed he did this out of 'ignorance' and labelled himself as 'foolish' and 'selfish'.

Cena did accept that it made for great TV, bit it took a big man to clarify that even the company's top face can make mistakes.
