9. Darren Young

Similar to Zack Ryder, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that Darren Young currently calls WWE Superstars home, but given the momentum he had when he initially returned to the ring over the summer, it's baffling more isn't being done with him at the moment.

WWE had a golden opportunity to make Darren Young great again, or just great in general, by pairing him with WWE Hall of Fame Bob Backlund. It was an idea Young pitched to management about a year ago, and although it was finally green lit, they never intended to give the gimmick a chance to succeed.

Young was a serious contender to the Intercontinental Championship at Battleground, but it was all downhill from there when that match fell flat. Putting him a program with Titus O'Neil was the worst thing they could have done, and now he is without direction all together.

Truth be told, it's more of a disgrace Creative has nothing for Backlund more so than Young. That gimmick could have been, and still can be, a great vechile to get Young involved in the midcard, but instead he's being relegated to dark matches and facing Jinder Mahal Friday afternoons on Superstars.
