10 WWE Wrestlers Who Told You They Were Pissed
6. John Morrison Wants A Push
The John Morrison story is familiar.
It didn't matter that he rehabilitated his image in the wake of his willingly leaving WWE in 2011. Emphasising his unique and athletic parkour-informed style in Lucha Underground, he also drew raves for his more rounded work as Johnny Impact. He had his detractors, of course - a lot of fans could not abide the inconsistent execution of his finish and generally felt that his work, ironically, wasn't impactful enough. He deserves credit, however, for generating buzz in a fading promotion while several generations of more fashionable, less overexposed talent drove the alt-wrestling boom of the late 2010s.
When he returned to WWE, it was if nothing had changed since 2009. He was reunited with The Miz on television, and together, they settled into the old routine. Or a worse version of it, more accurately; the unfunny-on-purpose stuff was lamentable. An interaction with the New Day in early 2021 was particularly awful. Morrison has a goofy sense of humour, so he may not share that opinion; also, he was magnanimous about his last WWE run, saying it was a nostalgic and good experience.
Still, he left WWE in the first place because he was frustrated creatively, and by stitching the hashtag #MoreMorrison onto the inner lining of his ring jacket, he subtly expressed that he wanted something more than a throwback run.
