10 WWE Wrestlers Who Weren't Given Enough Chances

5. Diamond Dallas Page

When looking back on WWE's purchase of WCW in 2001, it's easy to point out how the majority of WCW's top stars - Sting, Goldberg, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Scott Steiner et al - were out of WWE's reach due to huge guaranteed Time Warner contracts. But still, even though some of WCW's heavy hitters were missing, one big name who ended up in WWE as part of that purchase was Diamond Dallas Page.

Page was a three-time World Champion upon arriving in WWE, with him alongside Booker T as the only two WCW talents who could be legitimately viewed as a main event level star at that time. DDP and his People's Champion moniker positioned him as a major player in Ted Turner's rasslin' company, yet WWE brass decided to make Page a creepy pervert who hid in the shadows and watched The Undertaker's wife.

Sure, a rivalry out of the gate with The Phenom is nothing to be sniffed at, yet WWE did Dallas no favours whatsoever by giving him such an awful gimmick - not to mention having 'Taker's wife Sara pin him.

Once that extremely one-sided feud with The Undertaker was out the way, Page was never afforded a chance to be anything more than a midcard talent in WWE. A Tag Team Championship run with Chris Kanyon was followed by a stint as European Champion, but DDP was out of WWE barely a year after his debut with the company.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
