100 Greatest WWE Royal Rumble Moments Ever

86. Mil Mascaras Eliminates Himself (1997)

It isn't exactly common for wrestlers to muscle in on a Royal Rumble payday as a special guest and lay down the law to management behind the scenes. Mil Mascaras was no ordinary worker though - he was Mexican pro wrestling royalty, and ol' Mil was worried about one thing: Doing the job. Yes, even in a Rumble.

Bruce Prichard has dished details via his podcasts on what Mascaras told Vince McMahon and other officials backstage before agreeing to work the titular match. Mil didn't want to be eliminated by anybody else (thus doing that aforementioned job), and said he'd fly out of the ring himself. It wasn't much of a plan, but the WWF went for it anyway.

McMahon explained on commentary that Mil didn't understand the rules of the match and had got carried away when brawling with others. That's certainly one way to describe Mascaras scaling the ropes and flying out over the top. This memorable moment would be Mil's only one.

He wasn't invited back for another Rumble.
