The 2008 Royal Rumble may be famous for John Cena’s shock return from a torn pec, but for fans of a certain vintage, even more memorable was the sight of Roddy Piper and Jimmy Snuka once again locking horns.

Snuka was the first of the two to enter the match, landing at #18 and immediately dishing out some of his trademark headbutts and chops. But Superfly was joined just two minutes later by Hot Rod, and the pair instantly reignited one of the all-time great rivalries, complete with a Piper eye poke for good measure.

Adding to the moment, the rest of the competitors in the match just stood still and took in these two legends of the business, with CM Punk, in particular, looking like he was having the time of his life seeing Piper and Snuka go at it one more time. That is, until the two WWE Hall of Famers were simultaneously eliminated by Kane.

That this all went down in Madison Square Garden - the iconic building that played host to so many Piper vs. Snuka battles - was just the icing on the cake.
