100 Greatest WWE WrestleMania Moments
68. No Holds Barred (WrestleMania XXVII)

The 'No Holds Barred' match that followed wasn't half bad either, but it says everything for the chemistry Triple H and The Undertaker had that it wasn't even close to their finest hour. Some even preferred a bout from 'Mania X-Seven in 2001, but that was more of a last-minute afterthought than anything else; Bruce Prichard has admitted that the WWF only realised late on that they hadn't put either man on the card that year.
So, their scrap was an olive branch and little more. The same can't be said for 2011's follow up. The story Trips and 'Taker worked heading into 'Mania XXVII had depth and purpose. They were warring over HBK's retirement in 2010. Hunter wasn't best pleased that 'The Deadman' was responsible for sending his pal out to pasture, and he vowed revenge by ending The Undertaker's famous WrestleMania winning streak.
That was enough of a tale to power WWE through multiple 'Mania's, but more on the second act later.
Undertaker went 19-0 on the biggest show of the year by locking in his Hell's Gate submission on 'The Game' and forcing the end after 29 minutes of back and forth. It was as vicious as it was epic, and it might well be a firm fave for millions had they never locked horns at 'Mania again. They did though, which is why this one finds itself exactly where it is here.
There are so many amazing WrestleMania memories to pore over and pick from. Not everything can be number one, sadly!
