If you've not heard this story, you can rest assured that it is exactly as preposterous as you think it is. Once upon a time Shawn Daivari was one of the most hated heels in WWE, the mouthpiece of Muhammad Hassan. The Hassan character took a turn for the distasteful, and as a result Daivari and Hassan were removed from TV and informed that they would need to take on new characters.

Daivari tells the tale that he was soon approached by Stephanie McMahon, who had a great idea for the young superstar. Daivari was to be repackaged as 'George W. Bush', an America-loving babyface in an over-the-top red, white and blue outfit. It may have been Stephanie approaching Daivari, but it is an idea that simply screams 'Vince McMahon'.

Everyone and their dog can see that this is a terrible idea, and Daivari shot it down. Repackaging a hated foreign heel as an America-loving babyface overnight is a terrible idea, and planning on naming him after the gosh darn president gives the impression that the idea was always intended as a joke.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
