Daniel Bryan is a far funnier guy than people realised. His character upon arriving in WWE was 'talented wrestler with no personality', but anyone who had seen him talking about dolphins with Paul London would have known better. Bryan is a funny guy, and the list of names he offered before making his debut in WWE reflects that.

Saying that, funny isn't always money, and Bryan has more to thank William Regal for than just in-ring influence and training. It was Regal who offered up the name 'Daniel Bryan', when all the suggestions Bryan Danielson had offered fell on deaf ears.

Two such suggestions were Buddy Peacock and Lloyd Bonaire, the latter of which seems to come with a variety of spellings but one pronunciation: boner. Forgetting that monstrosity for now, Buddy Peacock sounds like a 1980s babyface jobber, full of fire but inevitably ending the evening staring at lights.

Luckily for all involved, Buddy Peacock never came to fruition.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
