Chris Benoit was never considered to be one of the most charismatic Superstars, nor was he lighting the world on fire with his promos. In fact, the top brass in WCW had so little faith in his ability to draw that he left the company as WCW Champion, and they didnt even want him to drop it to someone. If that doesnt hurt ones self-confidence as a wrestler, nothing would. But Chris Benoit was also an excellent wrestler; and sometimes the hardest-working guy catches a much-deserved break. After spending the first few years of his career in the mid-card, as well as putting on great matches on SmackDown, Benoit won the 2004 Royal Rumble, and main-evented WrestleMania XX in a triple threat match with Triple H and Shawn Michaels. That match is considered to be one of the best matches in WrestleMania history, and it has considerable symbolic value. Benoit, a small, 511 and 220lbs. grappler with little charisma defeated Mr. WrestleMania Shawn Michaels, arguably the greatest competitor in WWE history; and Triple H, one of the most accomplished wrestlers of all time, in the main event of WrestleMania XX. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnLjfjfmWsY Earlier on the show, Eddie Guerrero successfully defended his WWE Championship against Kurt Angle. During Benoits title celebration, the two of them embraced, with tears of joy on both of their faces. This moment was a historic point in wrestling history, as it represented a shift in professional wrestling. No longer were the biggest, most outlandish characters the most important stars in the company; the most gifted, hardest-working wrestlers were now the champions. It was truly an emotional and memorable moment to see two of the alleged vanilla midgets holding world titles side by side at the closing of the grandest stage of them all.
