6. Bret Hart Vs Davey Boy Smith

The Summerslam '92 main event between The British Bulldog and Bret Hart is inarguably the most famous WWE match ever to take place outside of the United States.

The first ever WWE pay-per-view without Hulk Hogan had provided bygone era stars Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior and Ric Flair in a title clash earlier in the broadcast, but the show-closing Intercontinental Title spectacle was the biggest takeaway from the historic Wembley Stadium supercard.

All the more amazing then, that the 25-minute match was performed almost entirely by the 'Hitman' alone.

Though the entire main event was built around his home country-crowning, Bulldog was ill-prepared for the moment. According to Hart's detailed memoirs, a nervous Davey Boy had spent the week before smoking crack with Jim Neidhart, and was mentally and physically wrecked almost immediately after the bell rang.

On re-watch, it's apparent how drained the Bulldog is within the first few minutes. Bret asserts that he had to remind his brother-in-law of everything they'd discussed for the contest, carefully babying him through each individual step in front of the biggest crowd the two would ever perform in front of.

'The Hitman' calls it his favourite ever match for this reason alone, with the 'work' of pro wrestling never more emphasised than in this miraculous display.
