11 Hugely Talented WWE Stars Who Were Fired Too Soon
8. Nidia
The Tough Enough season one winner, Nidia was a great character during her days on SmackDown with Jamie Noble. Straight out of the trailer parks of West Virginia, Nidia and Noble were the epitome of redneck trailer trash. Their idea of a fancy meal was a night out at Applebees and they had absolutely no problem engaging in explicit displayed of public affection. With Noble as the Cruiserweight champion, or at least a top contender to it, they quickly became one of the most entertaining acts on SmackDown. Nidia, in particular, had a knack for entertaining the audience. Whether it was outside the ring during Noble's matches, in pre-taped segments or in matches of her own, the camera was drawn to her. Not only because she was smoking hot but also because of the little things she would do to get the character over. While Noble was a great wrestler, the steak to Nidia's sizzle in the pairing, it was clear that the young Diva was the star of the group. When she was drafted to Monday Night Raw in 2004, many believed she was finally going to get her opportunity to become a star in the Divas division. He ring work had steadily improved over her two years on SmackDown and she was clearly ready to prove her worth against some of the most decorated women's wrestlers in the industry. She did just that, putting in strong performances in matches against Molly Holly, Victoria and Jazz before earning a shot at Trish Stratus' Women's Championship. She lost that match but there was a buzz building around Nidia and the indisputable potential she was showing on a weekly basis. Then it happened. On November 3, 2004, she was released from her WWE contract. No one knew why but the impending invasion of models-turned-wrestlers from the much-maligned Diva Search likely had something to do with it. Which is a shame because WWE could have had a highly successful young performer on its roster who suddenly found herself thrown away like a piece of garbage in favor of girls who had no passion for the industry that they were entering. Since her release, Nidia has stayed out of the public eye for the most part. She made a handful of independent appearances and still pops up for the occasional autograph convention but by and large, she remains out of the spotlight.
Erik Beaston is a freelance pro wrestling writer who likes long walks in the park, dandelions and has not quite figured out that this introduction is not for Match.com. He resides in Parts Unknown, where he hosts weekly cookouts with Kane, The Ultimate Warrior, Papa Shango and The Boogeyman. Be jealous.
