11 Mind-Blowing WWE Wrestler Salaries That Were Worth The Money

9. Mike Tyson - $3.5 Million In 1998

After the boom of the late eighties, the WWF really struggled to get value for money on any wrestler. Business was nose diving, and when WCW then started offering big contracts in the mid nineties, it looked like the WWF couldn't afford to compete. Vince McMahon really was on the verge of his company going extinct. But in 1998, he took a gamble. He splashed out big money to secure Mike Tyson for a few dates in WrestleMania season. At $3.5 million, it was very expensive, but Tyson ended up more than paying the sum back. His presence is credited as a turning point in WWF business, as his controversial reputation and celebrity status instantly put the world's attention on Vince McMahon's product. Wrestling fans started changing from watching Nitro, to watching Raw. When you look at WWF business before Tyson and after Tyson, you have to say he was more than worth that money. Granted there were other factors in play, but the boxer really was like an injection of strength to Vince's side in the Monday Night Wars.
