11 Newsworthy Moments From Chris Jericho's Cruise (And What They Mean For Wrestling In 2019)
10. Fite TV Becoming A Major Player
Fite TV was founded in 2016 and has quickly grown to become a major contender in the live streaming world. The online service features events and pay-per-views from a multitude of combat sports -- most notably a partnership with the UFC which began last year. However, 2018 has seen Fite broadcast some of wrestling's biggest shows, presenting IMPACT's Slammiversary and Bound For Glory, exclusively hosting Billy Corgan's revived NWA 70th Anniversary event, and carrying the historic ALL IN pay-per-view.
Now, Fite was the only way fans who weren't onboard could take part in Jericho's Cruise. On 3 November, they presented "Streaming For Vengeance" which featured the entire Sea of Honor tournament, as well as the marquee bout between the Bullet Club and the Alpha Club -- a one-time pairing of The Young Bucks and Chris Jericho.
While the wrestling world quickly became oversaturated with streaming services following the launch of the WWE Network, Fite TV has quickly carved out their own niche. If they continue to broadcast marquee events -- such as the seemingly inevitable ALL IN 2 -- Fite TV could become the one-stop shop for fans searching out an alternative to WWE.
