4. He Bought The WWF Championship
Hulk Hogans dominance as WWF Champion in the 1980s is the reason for a lot of wrestling Dan Marinos. A ton of great performers came through the WWF during that time period who never held the most coveted prize in the business. Paul Orndorff, Harley Race, and Roddy Piper immediately come to mind. The Million Dollar Man wasnt about to join that club. After trying multiple times and failing, DiBiase devised a full-proof plan to wear the gold around his waist. It involved Andre the Giant, a kidnapping, a man willing to undergo drastic plastic surgery, and a TON of money. He thought of everything. Leading up to the February 5th, 1988 episode of The Main Event on NBC, DiBiase convinced Andre the Giant to sell him the WWF Championship after he won it from Hulk Hogan in their WrestleMania 3 rematch. 33 million fans tuned in to see what would happen. Even with that in play, DiBiase wasnt willing to take any chances on The Hulkster pulling out a repeat. Nine minutes into the match, Andre threw Hogan with a double-underhook suplex. He made the cover and Hogan kicked out at one, but referee Dave Hebner still counted to three, declaring Andre the winner who turned and sold the title to DiBiase as promised.
