11 Terrible Fourth Wall Breaking Wrestling Moments

7. R-Truth Blows Up

Usually it's just R-Truth's humor that bombs...

While fans recall Vince McMahon blowing up in his limo, not many people remember that R-Truth also once died on-air in an explosion. Sadly for Truth, it wasn’t the beginning of a big storyline, as no one seemed overly concerned that he was no longer alive.

MacGruber came to Raw one night, which is odd, since nobody asked him. He participated in some wacky antics to promote his upcoming theatrical bomb, by going face-to-face with Vladimir Kozlov. Then Truth came out to yell “What’s Up?” a bunch of times, and then he died. An explosion somehow went off at that exact moment. Only Truth’s shoes were left behind for us to remember him by.

The show wasn’t shut down. No police investigation was launched. Nobody cared. So that means the explosion was a part of the show? But then..within the context of the story who would book something like that? Who was all in on it?

The overall goofiness and terribleness of the segment basically told everyone “that was fake! Look how fake that was! But the next segment? That one is real! So is the next one, now go buy the next pay-per-view!” That’s a bit of a strange way to get people invested in your television show.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
