11 Things We Learned From CM Punk's Latest Oral Sessions Appearance
7. Plentiful Sting Praise
One of the many things that AEW has got correct in its relatively short lifespan, is how it treats the legends of the business who find themselves under the All Elite Wrestling banner.
Of course, one such legend is Sting, and the WCW icon will be in Darby Allin's corner when the Daredevil faces off with CM Punk at All Out. And for Punk, he had nothing but praise for the Stinger during his latest chat with Renee Paquette.
"That's a situation that I never, ever thought was a possibility. You're talking about a guy who has been on top everywhere he's ever gone. I really don't know if he gets the credit for his wrestling mind. It's kind of hard for him to not have a different perspective based on everyone he's worked with and everywhere he's been. I don't know if he was ever positioned as the top guy, but I feel like he was the heart and soul of WCW - especially towards the end. The dude was on the first Nitro, the dude was on the last Nitro. He's been in main events with Ric Flair, he's worked everybody. He's been around for so long, I just don't think he gets the credit for that, I don't think he gets the credit for being a top guy because maybe he always played quote/unquote 'second fiddle' to Flair or Hogan or whatever. But man, they always had to rely on him; Sting was always there."
From there, Punk would compare Sting managing Darby Allin to Harley Race managing Vader in WCW back in the early '90s - labelling Sting's AEW appearances as "a delight to see" and stating how he had to pinch himself when he was in the ring with the Stinger.
