11 Things We Learned From NXT TakeOver: The End

1. The End Has Come For Finn Balor And Samoa Joe

It is a strange thing to say, or in this case type, but once again Finn Balor and Samoa Joe went at it in the main event of an NXT TakeOver special, and once again Balor and Joe fell slightly short of expectations. Both are elite-level competitors, but I feel this may be a case of expectations being simply too high for two men to match.

Joe picked up the win inside the cage and retained his NXT Championship in the process, and it all but ends the feud between the two. The two have been atop NXT for well over half a year now, and it is time for both to move on to new things. Joe looks like he's on-route to a mouth-watering showdown with Shinsuke Nakamura, possibly at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn in August.

As for Balor, surely the main roster beckons sooner rather than later. There is nothing left for him to do in NXT, and his former buddies in The Club await him on the bigger stage. NXT TakeOver: The End... was just that for Balor and Joe.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
