11 Things We Learned From Shawn Michaels On The Ross Report
6. Taking Wrestling Too Seriously
Jim Ross talks about how he took his profession so seriously that it often clouded his judgement and affected his decision-making ability and asked Shawn if he ever thought he did the same. He responds that he did in the early years, and that that's one of the best things about his 2002 return as he had his priorities in the right place. He said he still came to work, put in maximum effort, but then left it at the arena when he was gone. Before that he had nothing else in his life and too much of his identity was tied into his wrestling and what he did in the ring. He clarifies that it's not that he took himself too seriously, but the job in general. The realization of that was another factor that aided in his decision to walk away when he did.
