11 Things WWE Got Wrong In 2017
5. Boring Cowardly Heel Champions
It is important to make it clear that in no world was putting the WWE Championship on Jinder Mahal the right move. You can't just thrust an enhancement talent to the top of the card; the fans are never going to buy it, and suffice to say they refused to accept the Modern Day Maharaja as a main event performer. It was a failed experiment, no matter what the company or Mahal says.
But WWE did Mahal absolutely no favours by having all of his title defences end in exactly the same way. Jinder Mahal found himself in desperate trouble, only for The Singh Brothers (the only redeeming part of the act, ironically enough) to interfere. This would always allow Mahal an opening to hit the Khallas and retain his title.
The same thing happened in practically of The Miz's Intercontinental Championship defences. Miz frequently found himself on the verge of losing the title, before Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel got involved and saved the day. It was boring from the start, and repeating the process didn't make it any more interesting.
What is wrong with strong heel champions? Why must all bad guys be weak and cowardly? The booking of its champions is one of many things WWE has got wrong for a number of years now, with no change in sight.
