11 Things WWE Must Do To Survive In 2016

9. Get Rid Of The Current Formula

Monday Night Raw has become one of the most predictable, formulaic shows on all of television, and that€™s including paint-by-numbers procedurals like Law & Order. You know you€™re going to get an opening talking segment €“ usually from a heel €“ followed by an interruption from someone, which will lead to a match of some sort later. Sprinkle in about half a dozen or more backstage segments from The Authority and a bunch of meaningless bouts between people who€™ve wrestled each other weekly for the last six weeks and you€™ve got every episode. Everything about the show is stale, from the theme music €“ which they€™ve been using for over three years €“ to the set design and layout of the show. Just blow everything up and start from scratch. It€™s no coincidence that the show was at its most successful when it was also chaotic and unpredictable. Raw is now the polar opposite of that and it shows in the malaise viewers feel when watching. It€™s not a hard thing to change; the writers have apparently grown so comfortable with the current structure that they either genuinely don€™t know how or they€™re just too frightened to stray from it. Meanwhile it€™s one of the major changes fans have been calling for for years. They need to restore that sense of urgency and truly make their flagship show must-see TV again.
