11 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Sep 9)

3. Matt Healthy

Matt Hardy
AEW

The most positive thing about Matt Hardy's Dynamite announcement is that he's going to be okay. Matt confirmed that he is expected to make a complete recovery after hitting the concrete at All Out, suffering a suspected concussion, and said he'd be looking to climb the rankings and go after a singles title when he returns. All is well.

Even removing the relief aspect of it, this was a great promo. Matt was earnest and likeable. He thanked the fans for their outpouring of love and support, said sorry to his family for putting them through that ordeal (Reby was in the audience), and acknowledged he might be the dumbest man alive. Hardy was extremely over throughout and left a strong impression, drawing a line under this incident in perfect fashion.

One can only hope that whatever backstage lessons need to be learned from this are implemented immediately. The incident (and aftermath) left an ugly mark, so let's all hope the involved parties move forward.
