11 Ups & 7 Downs For NXT In 2018

Nikki Cross

Ugh.

Nikki Cross is a good performer. A charismatic wrestler with considerable in-ring chops, she's as versatile as it gets and throws everything she has into whatever she's asked to do. She grasps every opportunity with both hands, no matter the content, and it's to her credit that she continues to perform her current gimmick with such gusto...

Because it absolutely stinks.

'Crazy' Nikki is the worst character in WWE because her portrayal completely destroys the foundation upon which professional wrestling is built: the suspension of disbelief. Her bullsh*t is too whacky, too outlandish, to conceivably go down on WWE's most realistic brand. Thus, it is impossible to believe in her as a personality.

This gimmick is largely why your writer found the Aleister Black whodunit saga so unbearable. Scurrying around Full Sail University like Smeagol reborn, her maniacal grins, creepy lurking, and comical "I knoowwwwwwww!" drawls dolloped ladels of cringe on WWE's strongest hour of weekly television every single time. The Shayna Baszler feud was slightly better, but Cross' late-year material? Horrific.

This awful, awful gimmick is a millstone around a talented woman's neck. It'll die a horrible main roster death, too. Please fix it.
