11 Ups & 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Jun 18)

10. R-Truth Is Bloody Great

... and so is Drake Maverick.

This week's 24/7 Championship antics were as fun as ever. They began with Truth getting chased from ringside while teaming with The Miz to face Drew McIntyre and Elias, and ended up in the parking lot. The champ was standing around, looking for Carmella, when a referee popped out of an SUV. Drake Maverick then showed up disguised as 'Mella, pinning a baffled Truth with his feet on the vehicle (both of his fake breasts popping out as he did so), scoring the belt, and driving away screaming: "I'm getting married! I'm the champion!".

Truth's response? "Carmella didn't tell me she was getting married... and why wasn't I invited?!"

WWE comedy doesn't always hit the mark, but in giving Truth a platform to work his weird magic, the promotion have created a fun midcard novelty act. The 24/7 Championship is one of the best things in the company because it isn't trying to be one of the best things in the company.
