11 Blockbuster Ways To Write John Cena Off WWE Raw

2. A Retirement Angle

Retirement angles are another piece of creative that WWE just love to run. It is a booking style that goes back decades in the industry, all designed to create a buzz for when the wrestler inevitably comes out of retirement. Doing it with John Cena at Hell In A Cell could play into the rumours of him being burned out. He'd defend his title, but then leave it in the ring, stating that he wants to leave wrestling behind before he completely burns out. He'd say that he had tried to be a fighting champion, but the business has worn him down. He'd then announce to the crowd that he is retired, and it is time for a new John Cena to step up. Raw would then fall into chaos, with a storyline in which Sheamus becomes the new US Champion and WWE Champion. Cena's return would then be booked around coming back to save WWE from the hated heel champion.
