2. Charlotte Flair Vs. Becky Lynch

The Shield
WWE

Following a troublesome three way with no clearly defined babyface, it was refreshing to see a singles clash that clung effortlessly to a formula Vince McMahon himself declared passé 21 years ago.

Becky Lynch (bad leg, limp and all) was almost back to a level pre-SummerSlam earnestness before Charlotte's cruel and concentrated attack brought the stubbornness of 'The Man' back to the fore. Very little went on between them. This was, simply, succinctly, a story of a good guy and a bad guy.

Flair picked her spots and Lynch tried to stick and move - this wasn't one of the wars the pair had waged throughout 2018, nor did either of them want to donate their bodies to such a cause just a month shy of the biggest match of their career.

A match that was finally thanks to the equally understated interference of Ronda Rousey. 'The Baddest Woman On The Planet' did just enough to afford Becky a spot on the 'Grandest Stage', and less was decidedly more here. There's just under a month's worth of telly to try and rebuild kayfabe in time for the match itself.
