11 WWE Wrestlers Who Lived The Gimmick In Real Life

7. Triple H

The gimmick:

Late 1999 saw Triple H feature in a storyline in which seemingly drugged the boss’ daughter and married her at a Vegas drive-thru chapel. Of course, the whole rigmarole turned out to be a ruse, as Triple H and Stephanie McMahon later revealed they’d been in cahoots all along.

That led to them ushering in the McMahon-Helmsley era, during which they essentially abused Steph’s position of power to call the shots and preserve Triple H’s status at WWF Champion.

And though Triple H’s gimmick took a number of twists and turns, both before and after the McMahon-Helmsley era, it’s this particular chunk of his in-ring career that would later be mirrored in real life.

In real life:

It proved to be a case of life imitating art for Triple H when he, Paul Levesque, officially wed Stephanie McMahon in 2003, after the two had grown close whilst working together during that aforementioned storyline.

Just like on television a few years prior, multiple runs as world champion followed, although this time it had less to do with his choice of partner and more to do with him being one of the best in the business in his role.

Now, the happy couple continues to call the shots in the WWE boardroom with Levesque working as the Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative while McMahon is the Chief Brand Officer.
