His WWF run was a dud, but forget all that. Big Van Vader's legacy is secure, thanks to world-class performances in Japan and WCW.

The first non-Japanese wrestler to hold the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, Vader was one of the most successful Americans in the history of Japanese wrestling before transitioning to WCW and going to war with the likes of Cactus Jack and Sting.

A master of the powerbomb and the only super-heavyweight at the time to do moonsaults, Big Van Vader also famously continued a match with Stan Hansen after a blow to the eye caused his eyeball to pop out of its socket.

Mastodons don't hold a candle to the toughness of Big Van Vader.
