10. March 29, 2010 - HHH Says Goodbye To Shawn Michaels
WrestleMania XXVI played host to one of the best WWE matches of the decade when The Undertaker defeated Shawn Michaels, extending his WrestleMania streak to 18-0 and ending Michaels's career in the process. It was an emotional night for a man who had been a cornerstone of the company for decades, as well as for all of his fans. The following night, Raw was just as meaningful - "The Heartbreak Kid" gave a retirement speech to a tearful WWE Universe. Also at WrestleMania, the first portion of Triple H's feud with Sheamus came to a close when "The Game" pinned the upstart with a Pedigree. Sheamus wasn't finished with HHH, though - on Raw, he attacked the former multi-time WWE Champion with a lead pipe, brutalizing him and ensuring that when "The Game" was healthy, a rematch was on the cards. Triple H's recuperative powers proved surprising to everyone. After Michaels delivered his retirement speech and headed up the ramp, HHH met him on the stage. The two celebrated together, acknowledging HBK's career and forming an "X" on the ground with green glowsticks. Triple H showed no signs of damage from Sheamus's brutal attack less than two hours earlier. Even in a world where fans know wrestling is "fake," it was confusing and frustrating to see HHH blatantly ignore an angle from earlier in the same show.
