12 Duos That Helped Changed Tag Team Wrestling Forver

12. Demolition (Ax & Smash)

Despite the obvious comparisons to the Road Warriors, Demolition were a legendary act in their own right. Created during a peak period when outlandish gimmicks were still all the rage, Ax and Smash stood out immensely. With their Mad Max-inspired attire, KISS-like face paint and sheer size, the duo were one of the most intimidating sights in WWE at the time. This combination of attributes led them to tag team superstardom in WWE. At WrestleMania IV, Demolition defeated the team of Rick Martel & Tito Santana to capture the WWF World Tag Team Championships. Their reign would eventually become the longest in WWE history, spanning a total of 478 days. During their reign, WWE had a rich tag team division composed of several high-profile teams, leading to the titles becoming hotly-contested. But despite their impressive opponents, which included the British Bulldogs, the Hart Foundation, and the Powers of Pain. Although they might be somewhat limited by today€™s standards in terms of athleticism, Demolition were nonetheless an impressive team that drew in large crowds and captivated audiences with their gimmick and appearance. To this very day, it€™s nearly impossible to find any list of impressive tag teams without seeing the name €˜Demolition€™ appearing somewhere on that list. Given how successful and impressive they were as a team during the late 1980s and early 1990s, it€™s not hard to see why.
