12 Greatest Heel WWE Champions of All Time

9. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho goes by many monikers; Y2J, the Ayatollah of Rock €˜n€™ Rolla, Lionheart, the Best in the World at what he does. However, one thing that he will often remind the fans of is that he was and always will be the first Undisputed Champion, and that he did this by defeating the Rock and Stone Cold on the same night. While Jericho only held the WWF Undisputed Championship between December 2001 and March 2002, he made sure that he was the centre of attention. Jericho was brash, arrogant, and could back it all up in the ring. He could also talk the back legs off a donkey, and that drew the ire of the fans. But what made him a great heel champion was the manner in which he won his matches. Jericho took every advantage possible to ensure that he retained his championship, and would avoid confrontation at all costs. He also aligned himself with one of the greatest heat magnets of all time in the form of Stephanie McMahon, and would feud with the returning Triple H to ensure a despised reaction. One could definitely argue that Jericho is one of the greatest all-rounders in WWE history, possibly as close to Shawn Michaels in that regard than any superstar ever has been. His in-ring variety and his ability to adapt and change his persona when needs be have made him one of the best. His championship reign allowed the spotlight to be on him and he was able to thrive.
