By 2007 it was John Cena who was firmly established as the biggest star WWE had. He was deep into the longest WWE Championship reign of the last 19 years and there was no end in sight for the man who was being moulded as the modern day Hulk Hogan. Then, one fateful night on October 1st 2007, Mr. Kennedy badly botched a hip toss from Cena. The result was that Cena suffered a torn pectoral muscle, pulling the major tissue off the bone. WWE were left with little choice but to end Cena's long reign as Champion, Vince McMahon stripping the star of the title due to him facing 7 months on the sidelines. Such is the physical freakishness of Cena, he actually ended up recovering in record time from the injury. The franchise star was back in a WWE ring just three months later at the Royal Rumble. That's pretty astounding when you think about it. Still, the injury had ruined WWE's plans to give Cena a record long title reign. They never wanted him to drop the belt but their hand was forced. Ken Kennedy ended up taking much of the flak and was gone from the company just a year and a bit later.
