As intriguing as Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn as co-WWE Champions running the blue brand into the ground, there has to come a point at which Daniel Bryan reveals he's not really in league with the fiendish friends after all. Royal Rumble will be that proving ground.

'The Yes Man' has raised eyebrows for decisions seemingly in favour of Commissioner Shane McMahon's least favourite employees, but the further away a singles match with 'Shane-O-Mac' appears, the less likely a heel turn seems a necessary evil.

The angle yet again threatens to overshadow yet more AJ/'KO' hostilities, having butted in on every one of their disappointing singles displays in 2017. The involvement of Sami Zayn should help them over their hump, particularly if the 'Underdog From The Underground' and 'The Phenomenal One' can summon the form that lit up the closing moments of SmackDown Live!'s go-home show.

Styles winning keeps intrigue high for the Royal Rumble match (and various potential WrestleMania combinations), with Zayn and Owens having yet more managerial axes to grind to begin their own 'Show Of Shows' showdown.
