12 Match Star Ratings For AEW Revolution 2022

6. Jade Cargill Vs. Tay Conti - AEW TBS Title Match

Jon Moxley
AEW

It didn't go too long, it didn't expose Jade, and yet it never failed to treat Tay Conti as a threat. It was, given the slot and the players involved, as good as it could have been.

It was arguably the worst-worked match on the show. On a few occasions, you could sense that both women were thinking about how to get into position. These moments of hesitation broke the all-important spell of suspension of disbelief. It's a problem with Jade's matches; it will resolve itself in time, but as ever, the sheer star presence she radiates compensated for it. And she was on fire as a personality here; putting herself over as the domineering, arrogant bully, with her Karate Kid taunts, she also dusted off an awesome frog splash on which she put her own, characterful spin.

Her individual repertoire, and it's growing, is so great that will evolve into an even more special performer when she puts it altogether.

The use of seconds and add-ons helped the match from feeling like an inferior version of a wrestling match - it was more of an attraction - and Conti's fire was a tremendous contrast to Jade's cocksure body language.

Star Rating: ★★★
