While still a very enjoyable show, The End was one of the weakest of all the NXT TakeOver specials, and certainly the the least impressive since Fatal 4-Way almost two years ago.

Samoa Joe and Finn Bálor met for the third straight TakeOver main event, and although the two are amonst the most gifted wrestlers in the world, for some reason they lack the in-ring chemistry that fans had hoped to see from them. The matches were still quite good, but never lived up to the anticipation that had been placed upon them, and not even the steel cage was enough to make the magic we'd hoped for.

The lack of Bayley was disappointing, as she's arguably the most popular performer in the entire promotion, and American Alpha dropping the tag titles back to The Revival - while likely in preparation for a move to the main roster - seemed to take some of the air out of the show.
