When you talk about notable title changes, you’ve got to include this switch, which would lead to the deactivation and deep freezing of a championship.

The WWF Women’s Championship was up for grabs in Paris, France, in 1988, with champ Sensational Sherri defending against Rockin’ Robin, who she had defeated multiple times prior. But this time, Robin emerged victorious and with the women’s title.

Rockin’ Robin would go on to hold the title for more than 16 months before the it was vacated because she left the company – although records indicate that she hadn’t defended the title for nearly a year before it was deactivated.

After that, the Women’s Championship was left defunct for nearly four years before it was reactivated at the end of 1993 for Alundra Blayze to capture.
