12 Signings That Changed The Wrestling World

11. Terry Funk (To ECW)

Terry Funk

Just listening to a few of the wonderful stories various wrestlers chose to share in the wake of the iconic Terry Funk's passing last year tells you all you need to know about how much of an impact this great had on the industry.

But after spending years producing legendary displays against the likes of Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, and more in the likes of the NWA and AJPW, it was Funk's decision to help a little promotion by the name of Eastern Championship Wrestling that will likely go down as one of the most important in wrestling history.

Lending his star power, ability, and body to the rising company, Funk's presence here massively helped this organisation transition into the land of extreme that would soon revolutionise the business and noticeably influence the likes of WCW and WWE.

Always willing to put a colleague over, shed a sickening amount of blood for the cause, and put himself through absolute hell despite being well into his 50s, the Funker was instrumental in making the likes of Cactus Jack, Sabu, and Shane Douglas feel like bigger stars and ECW the game-changer it ultimately was.

There's a reason he was made Lifetime ECW World Heavyweight Champion in 1997, folks.
