12 Superstars Vince McMahon Broke The WWE Bank For

7. Ultimate Warrior - $550,000 For WrestleMania 7 And Guarantee No Wrestler Would Earn More Than Him

The Ultimate Warrior was one of Vince McMahon's top stars in 1991, but he was still second fiddle to Hulk Hogan. That didn't sit too well with Warrior, who was miffed that his WrestleMania 7 pay had been so low. So on July 10th of that year, he sent Vince McMahon a letter demanding $550,000 for Mania 7 and a guarantee that no wrestler would ever be paid more than him. He also wanted guaranteed dates, travel accommodations and better percentages of merchandise sales. If he didn't get it, he threatened to stay at home. At the time, these were huge demands. The WWF couldn't really justify offering that money, as Warrior had proved to be no Hulk Hogan. However, Vince had a show to put on, and had already advertised Warrior for SummerSlam. With that in mind, he agreed to Warrior's new terms, so that the colourful star would come back to work and perform at SummerSlam. Then as soon as SummerSlam was out the way, he suspended Warrior, stating in a letter "you threatened to 'stay at home' thereby not even appearing at Titan's major summer pay-per-view event SummerSlam. I had no choice but to accede to your exorbitant demands."
