12 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Royal Rumble

12. The Interval Times Changed All The Time

WWE lies. Sorry kids, but it's true. They lie about the attendance number for WrestleMania events, they lie about other business related things and they lie about the interval times in a Royal Rumble match too. The original idea behind the Rumble was to have two minute interval between each entrant. That way there's plenty of time to have a long match. If there are 30 minutes then the match is going to go 56 minutes before everybody is in there for 28 people to enter after the first two are in there. Then it changed. The reason for the changes is that WWE sometimes did a poor job of timing the show, so as a result they would realize that they had to rush the intervals. That's why if you watch a Rumble match with a timer don't get too upset if they aren't great in terms of actually following the rules. To WWE's credit, they got better at it as the years went by. They settled on 90 seconds as the regular interval time and they scheduled the PPV so that there was usually about an hour of show time before the Rumble match. That way they could definitely fit the match in that final hour of the broadcast. If you watch an old Rumble and realize that the time is different than what they said, don't be alarmed by it. They love to lie. They do it all the time!
