12 Times American Football Crossed Over Into Wrestling

9. TNA Signs Pacman Jones

TNA scored what they thought was a major coup by signing suspended NFL star Adam 'Pacman' Jones to a contract in 2007. The only catch? Pacman was legally barred by his NFL team from physical involvement so as to avoid injury. In fact, Ron Killings taunted Jones with this very fact during the Tennessee Titan’s first appearance with the company.

Jones may not have been able to provide TNA with any wrestling action, but he could garner publicity for the company. To no one’s surprise but TNA’s, though, the mainstream media viewed the move as a step down for Pacman Jones. Despite already having been arrested for instigating a night club fight that left a bouncer paralyzed, Jones was still seen as lowering himself by joining some bush-league wrestling company called 'T & A'.

Neither the no-contact rule nor the bad publicity could prevent Jones from winning the TNA tag team titles, albeit without performing a single wrestling move or taking a single bump. And if you think that makes no sense, don’t even bother trying to figure out why Ron Killings, knowing full well that a court had banned Jones from actually helping him physically in any way, specifically chose to team with the disgraced football star.

And don't you dare try to comprehend why TNA would bring in Pacman Jones back in 2013.
