Of all the people to have fallen to The Undertaker's unbeaten streak at Wrestlemania, none tried and failed more than Triple H. Kane and Shawn Michaels both had two tries each at putting the Phenom down, but only Triple H had three matches on the Grandest Stage Of 'Em All against the Deadman. In truth, the first encounter was before 'The Streak' was really a thing. At Wrestlemania 17, the pair endured a wild match that went through the huge crowd in the Reliant Astrodome in Houston, Texas, which brought The Undertaker to 9-0 at the event. It was only a year later after defeating Ric Flair that Undertaker himself acknowledged his impressive run of wins, holding up ten fingers to show how many victories he'd had. After seeing his friend Shawn Michaels beaten twice and subsequently retired at the hands of The Undertaker, Hunter went on to challenge the man again at Wrestlemania 27. Despite losing the match, Triple H was able to walk away from the ring afterwards, while Undertaker had to be carried away by locker room staff. This was enough to warrant a final rematch one year later, inside a Hell In A Cell with Michaels as guest referee. The match has gone down as one of the greatest of all time, being referred to as 'The End of an Era', and it saw Undertaker reach 20-0 as Triple H lost once again. The mutual respect that the pair have for one another behind the scenes translated well on-screen, and they both walked out of the event in each others arms, representing the last remnants of the legendary Attitude Era.
