Upon having seen too much of father Vince McMahon's extramarital affair with Trish Stratus, Shane returned to defend his mother Linda McMahon's honor. Intriguingly enough, a real-life wrinkle was tossed in when World Championship Wrestling was sold to the World Wrestling Federation one week before the scheduled Wrestlemania X-7 Father/Son street fight tilt, a move ascribed to Shane McMahon in storyline. With Vince wearing a crimson mask that Shane caused, following a Van Terminator-style "corner-to-corner" droppkick from the younger McMahon to his elder, Shane pinned Vince. Of course, let's remember, that in order for that level of finish to occur, Vince literally had to beat up his own son.
