12 Times Vince McMahon's Plans Blew Up In His Face

3. The WWE Network

WWE fans started to clamor for a full-time wrestling channel as the company accumulated footage in the 2000s, and finally, in 2011, the WWE Network was announced - in inauspicious fashion. A teaser full of old clips ran on Raw, with the simple date announcement of "2012." Needless to say, that year came and went without a WWE Network, as did 2013 - it was only in early 2014 that the WWE Network was rushed into life. At only $9.99 a month for exclusive content, archived footage, and all live Pay-Per-Views, the WWE Network quickly proved to be a steal - but with not enough people signing up for it in the early months, WWE's stock crashed and the company was forced to lay off about 1/7 of its workforce. They resorted to tactics like free months and Christmas gifts to encourage signups. Network numbers and stock values have stabilized, but WWE still isn't bringing in the revenue they were when WrestleMania cost $60.
