12 Times WWE Trolled Fans

11. Michael Cole Likes The WWE App

Way before the chants of "Nine ninety-nine" and Hulk Hogan making poorly memorised attempts to shill the WWE Network there was the WWE app. And it is impossible to think of the app without thinking of Michael Cole. Such was Cole's scripted passion for the WWE app, which launched in 2012, that he spent large portions of every episode of RAW in turn celebrating its majesty and explaining exactly how you at home can receive such manna from heaven. Fans made a conscious effort to begin turning over or hitting mute when Cole appeared, smartphone in hand each week, demanding "Have you downloaded the WWE app yet?". Sometimes Jerry Lawler, known for his principles, would join in, taking on the role of Universe idiot and needing Cole's help to essentially click a button. It was horrible. It went on for a very, very long time. Cole apparently made several pleas to Vinny Mac (who of course is the voice in the earpiece of Cole) to cool down on the whole thing as it was clearly driving both him and the fans insane. The result probably mirrored this conversation transcribed from a leaked, unedited version of an episode of Smackdown: Michael Cole: "Do you want me to say that every time, because I've said it a sh*tload of times tonight." (Response unrecorded) Michael Cole: "OK...yes sir...yes sir...OK, I've got it sir." It seems Cole as much as WWE's fans was being trolled in this instance.
