12 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Dynamite (23 Nov - Review)

5. Jamie Hayter, Interim Women's Champion No More

Rebel Jamie Hayter Britt Baker

Thunder Rosa is no longer AEW Women's World Champion. As confirmed by Renee Paquette, the injured star has relinquished the belt for it, AEW, and the division's own good, with her recovery still uncertain. Best wishes to her - and here's hoping she's back before long.

This was the right decision and one that should perhaps have come sooner. Nonetheless, Jamie Hayter can now shed the "Interim" tag and enjoy life as a full-on World Champion.

Hayter's next move was booked immediately after the announcement. Britt Baker snatched the microphone away from Jamie before she could speak, using "we" when talking about the belt, rather than focusing on her "friend." Hogging the spotlight, Baker was self-centered throughout, planting the first seeds for what should be a long-term story about the division's biggest star struggling with the idea of the person she brought into the company being above her in the pecking order.

A solid enough three-way tag followed. Baker and Hayter - The Killer and The Pillar - defeated Tay Jay A.S. and Willow Nightingale/Skye Blue in a fine battle that was window dressing for the new story, with Baker scoring the pin via stomp. This improves her position in the relationship and should empower her to keep being overbearing until Jamie decides enough is enough.
