12 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Feb 26)

3. The Best Bout Machine

Kenny Omega
AEW

If he ever went away, Kenny Omega is back.

In 2019, 'The Best Bout Machine' was booked to make you think that he was no longer functioning at his highest capacity, with Omega locked in an unwinnable, desperate battle to regain his old New Japan form. In 2020, he has crushed it. Weekly tag bangers deviating from the cocaine-first house style have proven him a master of that part of the art. His character work as a conflicted man-in-the-middle between Hangman Page and The Young Bucks shines without the need for promos. Then, last night, he delivered the best singles match of his AEW run so far, returning to a level not seen since his battles with Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Kota Ibushi.

This is cause for celebration. While Omega's slump was by design, he has blasted back in spectacular fashion. This is the wrestler we thought we were getting when his signing was first announced and he's now in the form of his life heading into Revolution and what could be one of the biggest years of his career.
