PAC cut a mint, brief post-match promo, in which he buried the cheap swear word pops he reckoned his Full Gear opponent cut to feel like the man he actually is. The swearing is great, burying the swearing is great, everything in this feud, at precisely the right time, is great.

This match/promo segment mirrored last week’s opener, in which Hangman Page defeated Sammy Guevara and cut the same sort of quick, impactful post-match promo that should become the norm. But the differences were subtle, and rich in detail: PAC took longer to put his midcard opponent away. His midcard opponent looked stronger in defeat.

This didn’t just accomplish the correct babyface/heel dynamic itself; it served their opponents, too: Guevara is the d*ckhead lackey who exists to eat pins and protect his “father figure”; Trent is the clear breakthrough member of the Best Friends tag team.

The storytelling on AEW Dynamite is next-level.
