12 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Feb 5)

3. The Wrong Shot

Rey Fenix
AEW

An inexcusable moment of lax production came at the conclusion of The Elite vs. the Lucha Brothers/Butcher and The Blade, as whoever was directing the show focused on the wrong guy.

Pentagon Jr. had just nailed Hangman Page with his Fear Factor finisher. This mobilised Rey Fenix, who ran the ropes then leapt outside onto the remaining Elite members, preventing them from interfering. Penta went straight into the cover but the show focused primarily on Fenix's downed body rather than what was going on in the ring, and only cut back to this decisive moment as the bell was ringing.

Stuff like this still regularly goes down on AEW shows, but not usually at important moments like the finish to a big match. This was, admittedly, a symptom of a larger problem, as immaculate production is something NXT nails almost every time of asking. That comparison doesn't favour AEW at the moment.
