12 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling Hard To Kill 2021

11. New Year, New Announcers

The appointment of Matt Striker and D'Lo Brown as Impact Wrestling's new announce team going forward came as a welcome surprise when it was revealed this past Wednesday. Josh Mathews, while decent in some areas, had become a tad stale in the role. His promotion to Senior Producer came at the right time, opening the door for Striker and Brown to slot in perfectly.

They worked perfectly together. Their enthusiasm for the action was clear, with their calls for the constant near-falls, and the overall concept of Barbed Wire Massacre added to the show massively. While there was one or two instances of, for example, Striker asking Brown if there was a Micro Brawler of him coming out, this was limited throughout the show. Yes, these products need to be shilled, but Mathews took it to the extreme at times.

With his promotion to a behind the scenes role, it allows Matt and D'Lo to take Impact to new heights from an announcing standpoint.
