12 Ups & 5 Downs From NJPW The New Beginning In Osaka 2019

3. Killed Be Repetition

Taichi Tetsuya Naito
NJPW

New Beginning's Los Ingobernables vs. Suzuki-gun six-man tag was fine, and strong enough to finish as a lower-tier Up if taken in isolation. It was a solid, well-worked pro-wrestling match. The problem is that we've seen this combination (or variations thereof) put together dozens of times over the past few months. It's stale as hell, and while everyone in this clash is entertaining, they couldn't transcend repetition in Osaka.

Suzuki-gun, in a shocking move nobody could've seen coming, jumping their opponents at the bell. The brawl eventually gave way to a more conventional six-man. Neat, tidy, well laid-out action, but nothing we haven't seen countless times recently, and in the end, it yielded 11 skippable minutes.

Shingo Takagi belted Yoshinobu Kanemaru with a Pumping Bomber late on, facilitating Tetsuya Naito's victory via Destino. Naito and Sapporo opponent Taichi then traded barbs, before Roppongi 3K attacked Takagi and fellow IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion BUSHI on the ramp, setting up their next defence. That match should rule, so at least we got a positive development from this tiresome bout.
